The organization FICUS recently launched a STEW-MAP survey in Lima, Peru. FICUS is a non-governmental organization led by young Peruvian women dedicated to research, design and implement socio-environmental projects and initiatives in cities and related territories to increase the sustainability and well-being of vulnerable groups.

Members of FICUS first learned about STEW-MAP while attending an Urban Forestry and Community Engagement seminar with the USDA Forest Service International Programs Office. They saw the methodology as a good way to better understand the network of stewards working in Lima, with a particular focus on sensitive ecosystems in the urban region such as the Pampas. The Lima survey, re-named ECORED, was launched in the Fall of 2021. This project is supported by the USDA Forest Service International Programs Office. La organización FICUS trabaja actualmente en el lanzamiento de una encuesta STEW-MAP en Lima, Perú. FICUS es una organización no gubernamental dirigida por mujeres jóvenes peruanas dedicada a investigar, diseñar y ejecutar proyectos e iniciativas socioambientales en ciudades y territorios afines para aumentar la sostenibilidad y el bienestar de los grupos vulnerables.
 

Los miembros de FICUS conocieron STEW-MAP durante un seminario sobre silvicultura urbana y participación comunitaria organizado por la Oficina de Programas Internacionales del Servicio Forestal del Departamento de Agricultura de Estados Unidos. Vieron la metodología como una buena manera de comprender mejor la red de grupos que trabajan por el medio ambiente en Lima, con especial atención a los ecosistemas sensibles de la región urbana, como la Pampa. La encuesta de Lima, rebautizada ECORED, se lanzó en otoño de 2021. Este proyecto cuenta con el apoyo de la Oficina de Programas Internacionales del Servicio Forestal del USDA.
